In the Wind - Vita

Ahhh, I've been waiting to post this. Finally, Vita has been redesigned. See, her original appearance was inconsistent and hard to draw well. So I changed it.

Also, this outfit is third in the set with Rexial's and Aleri's. See, Vita has no other fancy or formal clothes, on account of her scrappy nature and not-yet-established disliking for skirts. So, may as well give her something to wear on formal occasions. It still gives her room to move around and fight in, and in-canon it will likely be something provided by the organization.

Her hair is tied back into a ponytail with this outfit, but in other cases her hairstyle will vary. I really like the ponytail, though.

Now, her hair is swept to the side, parting in a different place, and she has this windswept look to her. It makes her look more mature, too.

The tight sleeveless top and straps crossing the chest are reminiscent of Aqua, along with her tights, while the skirt-thing is a reference to the Red Mage Asterisk in Bravely Default. I love the look of the Red Mage, but its stats are so mediocre that it's only practical to farm JP and get their abilities, and use a different class to actually fight... the roses on her strap and on her hair-tie are continuing with this theme. And the fact that her name means 'Life', so red is perfect. ...She's also kinda hot-blooded.

The long gloves she's wearing are partially a reference to Disgaea 2's Adell, the main hero, who wore an outfit that's actually vaguely like Vita's on top. I always thought it seemed like an odd outfit for a guy. He uses fists, she uses fists... and knives... and potentially can use swords.

You may notice that what she's wearing on her feet are Talaria. I haven't decided whether that should have some significance yet or not, since she would be the type to spend time training at Olympus Coliseum, and she could have acquired them there, but that doesn't make much sense given that the rest of the outfit is provided by the organization.

There's a previous version of this in my Scraps, by the way. The falling petals were added when I figured this needed some kind of background. While Rexial and Aleri are important members of Organization XIV, Vita is only an Unnumbered. She's not part of the usual rank-and-file, so no emblem for her. So I needed something else to put in the background.

Aleri's coat is blue, Rexial's outfit is green, Vita's is red. This makes it easier for me to remember each one's color scheme.

...I wish Vita had more of her story written down, though. Seriously, while Rexial and Aleri have thousands of pages of development and establishment, she gets, what, three, tops? And her backstory ties her to Aleri, which makes it harder to establish her as her own character, rather than as a satellite.
